Every year in the beginning of July are the Club National Championships. The meet invites all clubs across the United States to come and compete as a team for the Title of National Champions and for team Prize Money. For the 4th straight year I have competed for Club Northwest. This year the Club Championships were held on the west coast so we had a good shot at placing high. It is always difficult to get enough people to compete late in the season after NCAA championships and USA championships. We (club northwest) brought around 15 athletes to San Francisco with the goal of placing top 3 as a team. We did just that! 3rd place as an overall team was a great finish considering we didn’t have the numbers to compete in several of the relays.
To make the meet even more interesting, I challenged Lucais McKay to a 4 event challenge. We both agreed to compete in all 4 throwing events (Hammer, Shot put, Javelin, Discus) and to add the IAAF points for each event for a grand total. A gentleman bet amongst two guys who love throwing just about anything. Here is the points breakdown after all 4 throwing events. The distances are measured in Meters (1m= 3.28ft). The points are found on the IAAF scoring tablehttp://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/Competitions/TechnicalArea/ScoringOutdoor2008_742.pdf (around page 175)
