Biography
Born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Kent, Washington, Will Conwell was introduced to track and field by his Aunt Pauline and Uncle Ernie. Both were outstanding track and field athletes who encouraged Will to give the throwing events a try. Will began throwing the shot put in 7th grade and quickly realized his passion for the sport. He went on to set school records throughout high school and win the Washington state shot put title in 2000. In 2002, after playing two years with the University of Washington football team, Conwell decided to focus solely on throwing. He has improved each year since and is now ranked among the top 50 in the world in the men’s discus.
Will graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Geography with at focus in Geographic Information Systems. He currently works at Starbucks part-time to help pay for his training and living expenses. Finding a flexible job can be difficult because most of his time is spent training to reach his dream of competing for the USA in the 2012 Olympics.
Will is currently sponsored by CLUB NORTHWEST as he continues to chase after his dream of competing in the 2012 olympic games in London.
